Pattern Making Story Time

I woke up this morning brimming with energy. I was still on a bit of an adrenalin high from yesterday’s accomplishments and ready to conquer the day. That is until I tried to get out of bed.

My body was sore! There was no mistaking it, yesterday’s work was taking its toll. By the time I was finished with my morning routine, I was stiff as a board. Any plans of additional garden work, was officially off the table.

Coincidentally, I had already promised to assist my mom with some pattern making, at the end of this week. Today was as good as ever. She was ecstatic! Seems like she had already anticipated everything; all tools and materials were ready and waiting.

Drafting the basic pattern was a breeze, however we came to a bit of an impasse after we made a sample of the style. Mom had fallen in love with the outfit, which looked great, but to me something was not quite right. She proposed to make another, but I wanted to make a few alterations to the existing outfit.

After a bit of debating, we agreed to modify it. This didn’t take as long as expected, but I could feel the tension building in anticipation of the outcome. Would it fit as the original? I’m sure I heard drum rolls when she went to try it on. Then the verdict, she loved the new design! Now she can get started on her project.

Needless to say, it was a pleasure assisting my mom today. Yes, we had our little “jibber jabber”, but ultimately the end product was amazing. Best of all, it made for an awesome story!
